One of the best sci-fi Broadway shows I’ve ever seen! I loved the scenes and the creativity behind the idea — it was spooky, thrilling, and absolutely perfect for the Halloween season. Stranger Things: The First Shadow was an amazing experience, and they were so generous with the surprises throughout the show. Highly recommend it!
«Stranger Things. The first shadow» is a new level of «theater». I've never experienced anything like it before. The acting, the sets, the lighting, the visual effects make this production a leader among all I've seen before. I especially want to say that this was my daughter's first experience of theater, and she was absolutely delighted. I also want to express my gratitude to all staff of the Marquis Theater, to Alex (from Broadway Direct Customer Service) and to Nederlander product company of America for help. They helped us create unforgettable experiences that will last a lifetime.
My family and I saw Stranger Things this weekend. The Marquis Theatre is absolutely amazing! The acoustics are clean and balanced. The restrooms are modern, elevators, and comfortable waiting areas make it more accessible than most older venues. Because it’s inside a hotel, visitors can grab food or drinks nearby before or after the show without leaving the building. While not as ornate as older theatres, it has a sleek, modern charm, a reflection of Broadway’s evolution into the late 20th century.
Being a big fan of the 'Stranger Things' TV series my wife was very excited when we managed to get tickets for a matinee performance of the 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' play at The Maquis Theatre during our visit to NYC in September 2025 as part of her 60th birthday year celebrations. We were very surprised to find the main entrance to the 1,600 capacity Maquis Theatre is on the 3rd floor of The Marriott Marquis hotel just off Time Square accessed via esculators from the ground floor. There were no toilets inside the theatre, which were located at either end of the 3rd floor of the hotel. I liked this modern comfortable theatre and despite the lack of toilets inside the theatre it had everything else: large front lobby, souvenir & snack stalls and bars. Our heavily discounted tickets that we bought from the TKTS ticket booths at The Lincoln Center were for 2 great centre stage tickets in the orchestra stalls, 20 rows from the stage in row T, which provided excellent views of the stage. The show had superb special effects, the best I have seen on stage, which were enjoyed by the many Stranger Things super fans in the audience, who clapped & hollered their appreciation for each of the spectacular special effects - I wondered if a British theatre audience would have reacted in the same way?🤔 I have seen the 1st series of Stranger Things so I understood the constant switching between the real and upside down worlds but I think someone who have never watched the TV series would've had difficulty following it.
I saw Stranger Things there. Mind blowing. My first time seeing a Broadway show in a theatre that’s inside of a hotel. Great vibes. Staff were nice, ambience was nice, easy to get to, helpful staff and clearly labeled directions. Temperature was on point. Clean and great bathrooms.
